In this episode of 'Management Meets,'Steve and Katie are joined by Class of 2013 BSc Economics alumnus, Xiaoyu Zhang. Xiaoyu is Global Institutional Director and Head of China at AmplifyMe. Through simulations, AmplifyMe ‘gamifies’ financial roles, making the finance industry more accessible and engaging for students worldwide.
Throughout his career, Xiaoyu has been committed to helping students achieve their career goals and enhance their employability skills. Currently leading AmplifyMe’s expansion into Asia, Xiaoyu shares his insider knowledge on the variances in the graduate job market internationally, including the cultural differences between working in a corporate environment and a fast-growing entrepreneurial setting and how these factors can change what a company is looking for when recruiting.

Professor Steve Brammer
I serve as Dean of the School of Management, at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom, where I began my career. Before Re-joining Bath, I held senior roles in research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom (the Universities of Warwick, and Birmingham) and Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. As Dean of the School of Management, I am responsible for the strategic direction of one of Europe's leading centres of business research and education. As a member of the University's Executive Board, I also contribute to the leadership, positioning, and prosperity of the wider University. In a former life, I am a leading scholar in the fields of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability. Specifically, my research explored firm-stakeholder relationships, the strategic management of these, and corresponding impacts on company performance and reputation. I continue to serve as an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Management, as a member of a number of journal editorial boards, and served for a number of years as a member of the scientific committee of the Chartered Association of Business School's Academic Journal Guide.

Xiaoyu Zhang is the Global Institutional Director at AmplifyME, bridging the gap between education and the realities of the finance industry through simulation-based training that provides students with real-world experience. With a strong background in finance, previously at Morgan Stanley in London, Xiaoyu works closely with global financial institutions to identify and train top graduate talent. Xiaoyu is passionate about helping motivated students enhance their employability skills through practical, tailor-made learning experiences, delivering interactive seminars and training sessions at universities across the globe. Alongside his professional work, he is a keen social entrepreneur, committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world financial careers. Xiaoyu holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Bath, and his research has been published in the European Journal of Applied Economics.
